Decorating For The Seasons With Intentionality
Decorating for the seasons doesn’t have to be a hard stressful process. Actually, it’s meant to be peaceful, reflecting the season life is in and embracing the beauty every season brings.
It’s a reminder that each season doesn’t last forever and each season has its own beauty and joys. Wether there are holidays we look forward or just certain types of weather we look forward to. It’s all about being intentional.
What Decorating for the Seasons Should be

- This should be a stress-free time of intentionally changing your home to reflect the time of year you are in. Embracing colours, textures and things you love about that season. Reminding of its beauty and that time is fleeting.
- Beautiful: It should be a time where you add beauty into your home. From natural resources that reflect the current time of year such as fruits, vegetables or foliage. Adding natural elements and changing colours can really bring a freshness you will love.
- Intentional: You should be intentional about what you are buying and putting in your home. Don’t go wasting a lot of money changing everything around and having to store all these things as well. Little touches can make all the differences and as you will see many of these changes can be free to very low cost!
Winter Decorating

Personally, winter is my favourite time of year. Now here in Australia winter is not during Christmas and where we live there is no snow. But when I stop and think of winter I can’t help thinking of a cozy home, warm blankets and throws, slow cooked meals and warm toned colours.
For decorating there are a lot of simple changes that can be made here is a list of a few!
- Add soft comfortable blankets and throws to your couches!
- You can’t have winter without candles! Their beautiful natural light with their dancing flickering flames. Plus, of course the scents they release!
- I personally love adding warm colours like golden brown, auburn, gold, red hues, darker greens. But colour scheme is a personal preference.
- Change a few basic things like tea towels, table cover and cushion covers which have a more winter theme. Wether it’s winter colours or has winter pictures.
- Swap out pictures in frames that are more winter themed. Could be either of family or just lovely pictures you like that you printed.
- Make some winter crafts like hanging snowflakes, An Easy Homemade Wreath, Apple and Orange Pomander, Beautiful Homemade Potpourri (Holiday Version, or spray some pinecones white like snow for a lovely centrepiece!
- Bring some of the outdoors inside to add beauty like lovely branches in a vase, evergreen foliage and pinecones!
Christmas Decorating
Now if you’re in a part of the country where winter is over Christmas time then decorating can be very easy! But here are some ideas just in case!
- Christmas tree! Of course, this is probably the most popular thing people put up over Christmas time. It doesn’t really matter the size of it they always look beautiful on display.
- Wreaths in different parts of the house and outside the door!
- Change your door mat to a more Christmas or Christ centred theme!
- Nativity scene of Jesus.
- Fairy lights can be on a tree, around a centrepiece on the table or entwined in garlands.
- Garlands hanging over door frames or certain pieces of furniture.
- Simple things like tea towels and dish towels can be swapped for a Christmas or Christ centred Christmas.
Spring Decorating

While I love winter for its darker warmer colours spring is quite the opposite. It’s bright, fresh, clean and upbeat. Here are some spring decorating ideas!
- Adding bright flowers in vases around the house. Can be fresh or dried flowers can look very beautiful too and last a long time!
- Adding indoor plants to different areas around the house.
- Changing table runners, tea towels, hand towels and cushions covers to a spring theme look. Think bright, florals, fruit that kind of look.
- Keep windows open for fresh air and blinds pulled back to let in as much light as possible.
- Make some Pressed Flower Lanterns or Preserve Flowers In Oil.
- Change picture frames to more bright scenery like flowing rivers, sunny hill tops, baby animals and of course can be family pictures in the spring!
Easter/Passover Decorating Ideas
I personally keep this time of year on Jesus and do not do bunnies or chocolate eggs. But of course, if you enjoy those things, you can add that into your home.
- Adding scripture in frames as a reminder of what Jesus did for us.
- Changing tea towels to a more either easter theme or biblical theme.
- Adding a menorah to the table as the centrepiece with candles.
- If you do eggs, you can of course dye coloured eggs and place them in different areas of your home.
- Place a few crosses around the home as a reminder of Jesus dying on the cross.
Summer Decorating

Summer decorating can be a lot like spring. With bright colours, flowers, fresh fruit ect. Here are a few more ideas.
- Think of cooling colours like blue, white, I like yellow as well.
- Add natural rugs or placemats made of jute.
- You can add things like seashells if you are going for a beachy vibe or decorate using river stones in a glass vase or bowl.
- If you like blankets still think of lighter cooler material like linen or a light cotton.
- Add a few baskets around the house. I love beautiful, good wooden baskets to display some books, you can have some fresh fruit in some, blankets in them. They just look pretty no matter what!
- Fairy lights are so fun to have all time of the year. They are great for little gatherings and get togethers to keep things light and magical.
Fall Decorating

I love fall because I know winter is coming. I’m all for cooler cozy weather. Here are a few fun ways to decorate for fall.
- Pumpkins! You can have small pumpkins as centrepieces, big pumpkins displayed on your veranda, or fake pumpkins as decoration in different parts of your home.
- Add some beautiful autumn foliage in a vase! Autumn leaves are just so beautiful!
- Of course, candles once again! They are bright, beautiful, warm and smell lovely!
- Change your colour scheme to oranges, yellows, golden and red! Simple things to change like tea towels, hand towels, table covers and pillow cushion covers!
- Add dried fruit or citrus around your home for beautiful decorations. Like Apple and Orange Pomander.
- Why not make a scarecrow to put on the veranda for a little fun!
Thanksgiving Decorating
While thanksgiving overall is similar to fall decorations there are a few extra things you can do for this special time.
- I love the fruit in the basket look! It’s so pretty and could be a beautiful table centre piece plus everyone can take fruit out of it to eat.
- You can decorate different areas of your home with dried corn, pinecones and of course pumpkins!
- Have a thanksgiving banner up on display.
- Have thanksgiving place mats or door mats.
- Have a beautiful homemade wreath decorated with autumn-coloured leaves!
