What You Need
Ingredients
- Bread: You can use as little or as much bread as you like!
- Seasonings: (optional) You can add salt, garlic powder, Italian herbs, or whatever you prefer!
Supplies
- Knife: A sharp knife for slicing your bread.
- Baking tray: To place your bread on while toasting
- Silicone mat or parchment paper: I put this in my baking tray so the bread doesn’t stick. I prefer silicone mats as they are reusable and really easy to clean.
- Food Processor: To turn your bread chunks into breadcrumbs.
How to Make Sourdough Breadcrumbs (Step by Step)
- Preheat your oven to 400f/200c.

5. You can now add any seasoning you like at this point.

6. Store your breadcrumbs in a jar with a lid.
How to Store Breadcrumbs
Once breadcrumbs are cooled you can store them in a jar with a lid away from direct sunlight for about 3 months.
You can also store them in an airtight container in the fridge if you think they might not be completely dry and they will last a couple months in the fridge.
Breadcrumbs can also be stored in a freezer ziploc bag in the freezer for up to 6 months!
What Bread Can You Use
You can virtually use any bread you have on hand to make breadcrumbs. Any type of bread like bagels, sandwich bread, focaccia, garlic bread ect.
Preferably use older bread as it’s already drying out. You can save pieces of left over bread in the freezer until you have enough to turn into breadcrumbs as well.
