What You Need to Make This Recipe
At least 1 cup (300g) of leftover pie crust dough
1/4 cup tomatoe paste
2 tbsp barbecue sauce
Spices: 1/2 tsp sea salt, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp Italian herbs
1/2 cup shredded cheese
1/2 cup anything else you like vegetables or meat (optional)
How to Make Pizza Pockets Step by Step
- Preheat the oven to 180c/ 355F.
2. Roll out your dough until it’s about 1/4 in thick in a large rectangle shape. I like to roll it on my silicone mat.

3.Slice the rectangle into even portions at least 3 inches wide each piece.
4. In a bowl mix the tomato paste, BBQ sauce and spices together.

5. Place 2 tbsp of pizza sauce in the bottom middle of each rectangle top with cheese and any veg or meat you like.
6. Fold the top part of your dough over the bottom to seal the pizza ingredients into the middle.

7. Crimp the edges with a fork.
8. In a bowl whisk the egg and with a clean paint brush, brush the tops of the pizza pockets so they have a glossy look.
9. Bake for about 20-25 minutes once it looks golden it’s done!

You can also store cooled pizza pockets in freezer ziploc bags in the freezer for up to 3 months. Take them out and reheat in the oven until thawed and warm.
