Why Make Your Own Peach Iced Tea?
There are a few reasons you should make your own!
- If you are buying peaches in season this drink is actually pretty cheap to make. Doesn’t cost very much to make a large quantity of tea.
- It’s so much healthier than the premade ones in the fridge section at the shop or the Lipton tea bags! No numbers in this recipe.
- You can play around with taste: You can change it up, use different types of tea bags for the base like white tea or green tea bags.
- Add raspberries or peppermint leaves for a more complex yet very delicious taste!
- Adjust the sugar ratio and what sweetener you want to use. Honey, maple syrup, brown sugar or raw sugar!
- It’s extremely rewarding to make your own drink. Yes, I feel really good when I make something and everyone enjoys it.
What You Need to Make This Recipe
Supplies
- Blender: Highly recommend a blender or food processor. Not completely necessary but really cuts down on time and helps bring out more flavour.
- Sieve: You do want to sieve out chunks of peaches at the end
- Measuring cups and spoons: For measuring out ingredients, helps you be more precise.
Ingredients
- Peaches: Can’t make a peach iced tea without some lovely large juicy peaches.
- Water: You want a lot of water for this recipe. Use filtered water, rainwater pretty much any clean water that isn’t tap water.
- Sweetener: I like a mixture of brown sugar and raw sugar but you can choose whatever sweetener you like to make it sweet.
- Lemon: Lemon really brings out the flavour I think and adds a bit more depth to the drink.
- Tea: You will need several tea bags to make fresh tea as the base. I used green tea and loved it, but you can use white tea or black tea as well.
- Peppermint leaves (optional): They add a little extra refreshing taste, and I have to say give it a beautiful look as well.
How to Make Peach Iced Tea
- Boil 4 cups of water and pour over the tea bags. Let them sit and cool while you are preparing the peach syrup.
2. Rough chop peaches and remove the seeds.
3. Throw the peaches, sugar, water, and lemon juice in a blender and give it a 5 second blend.
4. Pour the mixture in a medium pan and cook it on medium heat for about 10 minutes. Mix it so it doesn’t burn at the bottom and don’t let it come to a rolling boil.
5. Once it’s thickened a bit pour it through a sieve into a large bowl or large Pyrex measuring cup, so the chunky pieces strain out.
6. You can then pour all of the syrup into the tea or reserve some syrup in a container in the fridge.
7. Serve in a glass and top with fresh peppermint leave and peaches for that extra delicious touch.
8. Will last about 5 days in the fridge.
Different Ways to Drink Peach Iced Tea
