- You want to make sure you start with a very thick sourdough starter. It should be scoopable and thick!
- I cut the apples on the slightly smaller size so they cook well through. But if you want a little crunch, you can cut them thicker.
- You can use any apples for this recipe just fine.
- Swap out the cinnamon for allspice if you want it gives it an amazing taste!
- You can easily turn this recipe into sourdough apple muffins. Just pour the mixture into muffin trays and bake for about 25 minutes and enjoy!
How To Store Apple Bread
You can store your bread in an airtight container for about 3 days on the counter away from direct sunlight.
The Sourdough apple bread can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week. If you don’t add the glaze on top, it tastes really lovely toasted with butter.
You can pre slice this loaf, place it into an airtight freezer bag and freeze it for later. When you want it take it out of the freezer and place in the fridge. I prefer it slightly toasted after it’s been in the freezer or fridge. You can toast it in a toaster as it warms it up and dries it out a little more or in the oven!
