What You Need

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cream: I use pure cream with no added thickeners, but you can use thickened cream as well.
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder: I love using pure cacao powder instead of cocoa powder. Cacao is richer in taste and healthier as it goes through less processing and doesn’t have sugar already added to it.
  • 3 tbsp sweetener: You can use several different types of sweeteners for this recipe. I personally love adding rapadura sugar to anything chocolate it enhances the chocolate flavour to me. It’s similar to brown sugar in taste but healthier. You can use raw sugar, honey or maple syrup as well!
  • 1 tsp vanilla: Use a good quality vanilla extract!
  • 1/4 tsp salt: I always add a little sea salt to my recipes. It enhances the flavour and adds extra minerals.

Equipment

Hand mixer: You really want a hand mixer for this unless you have strong arm muscles and want to mix by hand! I really like this one it’s affordable and has been working great for me!

Piping bag: If you want to pipe your whipped cream but not necessary.

Large bowl: for mixing everything in. I like these glass ones because they also have lids so you can store what your left overs in!

How To Make Chocolate Whipped Cream (Step by Step)

  1. Place all your ingredients into a medium to large bowl.
  2. Whip your cream at a low setting with your hand mixer for about 3 minutes until it reaches the thickness you like.
  3. That’s it! You can use immediately or place in the fridge with a cover until you are ready to use.

How To Store Whipped Cream

Store your left-over whipped cream in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge. It starts to go watery and loses its structure over time so the sooner you use it the better!
