A great way to use a lot of apples. We love this drink warm, but it also tastes great cold. A fun drink to make when apples are in abundance! Here’s how you can make it too!
Ingredients Needed

Apples: You will need 10 apples cored and sliced. Peeling is optional.
Filtered Water: You will need enough water to cover the apples by about 2 inches. This can vary depending on your size slow cooker.
Sugar: You need 3/4 cup of some sort of sweetener to make this drink sweet. I love rapadura sugar which is similar in taste to brown sugar but you can use whatever sugar you prefer.
Cinnamon Sticks: You will need 3 cinnamon sticks for this recipe.
Allspice: 1 tbsp of allspice adds a lovely flavour.
Vanilla: 1 tbsp of vanilla just adds an extra depth of flavour.
How to Make Apple Cider Step by Step

- Peel and core your 10 apples.
- Place all your ingredients into a slow cooker.
- Fill your slow cooker with filtered water until the water is about 2 inches above the apples.
- Cook on high for 4 hours.
- Allow it to cool slightly and strain out the liquid using a sieve.
- You can drink this hot or allow it to cool before placing it in the fridge.
What to Do With The Leftover Apple
I personally like to peel my apples so I can then use the apples for different recipes. Just take out the cinnamon sticks first.
- Use the left over apples for apple sauce.
- Add the apples into desserts like apple pie, Maple Apple Crumble Muffin or any other recipe that calls for apples.
Tips for Making Apple Cider
- To peel or not to peel: You do not need to peel your apples. I like to peel mine because I don’t really like the skin and use the apples for applesauce or desserts after they have been used for this drink.
- Some recipes add citrus as well. Feel free to slice an orange to give it a different flavour and add more depth!
- You can easily halve or double this recipe depending on how much you want to make!
If you love and try this recipe don’t forget to come back and give it a 5 star review!
