Easy Slow Cooker Silverside Recipe
A simple and flavourful slow cooker silverside recipe you will love! Just throw everything into your slow cooker, leave it for most of the day and you will have a delicious dinner waiting for you.

Hands on time is minimal for this recipe making is super convenient and packed full of flavour. The inclusion of vegetables makes this a complete meal for you to enjoy.
And just for even more flavourful I’ll share a very quick and basic sauce you can make last minute! You can use fresh or corned silverside for this recipe. Corned is even more flavourful but I have made this with fresh many times!
Difference between Corned and Fresh Silverside

The main difference between corned and fresh silverside is corned has been cured in a seasoned brine or pickle. This does add extra flavour and gives it a good texture as well.
You will mostly find corned silverside at the shops, but I have gotten fresh silverside when buying part of a cow.
What You Need for This Recipe

Here’s what you need to make this flavourful and delicious slow cooker silverside recipe!
2kg of silverside fresh or corned
3 large carrots peeled and diced
3 large potatoes peeled and diced
1 red or white onion diced
2 bay leaves
Spices: 1 tsp sea salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper,1/2 tbsp garlic powder, 2 tbsp brown or rapadura sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
3 cups or so of filtered water to cover silverside in
For the sauce
1 to 1 1/2 tbsp mustard for sauce
1/4 cup tapioca flour for sauce
Step by Step Instructions for Slow Cooker Silverside
- Place your silverside in the slow cooker and add all the spices on top of it. Rub it in slightly.
- Chop up your vegetables and place around your silverside.

3. Add apple cider vinegar, bay leaves and about 3 cups of water. You want your silverside mostly covered with water.
4. Slow cook it for about 8 hours on low. I turn mine about halfway through.
5. Take out of the slow cooker and slice and serve with vegetables on the side.
For The Sauce
- Once the silverside is done take 2 cups of liquid out of the slow cooker and place into a small pot.
- Add Mustard, salt to taste and tapioca flour.
- Whisk until it thickens into a creamy sauce and serve on top of vegetables and silverside.
How to Store Silverside
Allow silverside to completely cool and you can keep whole or slice, so it fits into an airtight container. Place this container in the fridge and it will stay good for about 4-5 days.
You can also freeze silverside. Allow it to completely cool and wrap the silverside in aluminium foil then place into a ziploc freezer bag.
It can be stored in the freezer for about 2 months. Take it out of the freezer and place in the fridge to allow it to defrost and reheat in the oven when ready to eat.
